August 13, 2019
Check out my new website:
Wow, that was really good. 5 stars!
Thanks. Glad you like it. *smile*
Thank you. Glad you like.
Beautiful to watch!

Cassidy block 8
I know right
Glad i didnt
Thank you very much! I appreciate the compliment!
Nah, there's no eye-twitch. It's just the editing (putting in the background, etc) that makes it looks a bit rough.
Thanks Jessica! It's fun having you in my class.
But, you gotta admit – it was a TOTAL BLAST doing it for Homecoming Game wasn't it?
Glad you enjoy my class. Now you and the other 3 in your chat group gotta get a good handle on it or I'll kick you in the butt and split you up. *grin*
Thanks! Maybe one of these days I'll try to create a more moving version that dives into the depth and beauty of ASL. This particular version is aimed at ASL students.
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful video! My little sister and I used it to learn the National Anthem so that we could interpret it at a retirement ceremony at the Pentagon this month. I was very pleased to see a true ASL version on here.
Glad to know this video is getting good use. *smile* The Pentagon? Very impressive. I bet you and your sister did a GREAT job!
Thank you very much.
Loved it!! Looking forward to starting online classes thru your website for someone on a budget who is going thru surgies which will diminish my hearing even more I am very excited SOMEONE is willing to bring the world of communication to me without breaking my bank
@xuxuyoyo LOL. Ummm… thanks.
@bmos2339 Awesome. I'm glad you're learning ASL. Good luck!
@BYUFanatic i was just wondering is this the normal speed??
@ilovesparky13 Many bands will play this song at various speeds, some faster/slower than others. But yes, this is a "normal" speed.
Oh, that's a gorgeous interpretation of the National Anthem! Bravo! 🙂 Thanks for sharing it!
@kimberlyjennery Thank you. I'm glad you like it.
@Swimming247 Glad you like it. There are several more "artistic" versions out there done by other Deaf such as Ella Mae and Terrilyn, but this version suits me because I wanted something simple that my ASL 1 students could pick up quickly and easily.
@kimberlyjennery Thank you very much. *smile*
i plan on learning this for the 4th of July
Star Spangled Banner United States Of America
who is playing the SSB in this?
I live in Sweden, but boy I dream about moving to the US of A…
@kmalston As mentioned at the beginning of the video, it is the Westwood High School Band.
@jrockluv Good for you!
@skrivbok Hope you realize your dream someday!
@julesigns815 You're very welcome!
@TonganPower Well thank you! That's very nice of you.
i use to live in yemen and i always dreamed of coming to america and my dream came true i hope yours will
Really? You live in the US? Gosh, I am jealous! 🙂
Thank you for sharing this. I would love to see the not simplified version.
Words would be nice, too.
that was a nice version of interpreting frozen text into ASL. Frozen text something like this, or the pledge of allegiance, Lord' Prayer, etc. Things that are always the same in English. In ASL, they vary with the language competency of the interpreter taking it out of English into ASL. If you put the words as to what you said into English, maybe some people would get a sense of the differences in the language since you didn't sign this in English,, but a nice job of ASL! From a fellow terp/
me too 🙁 But I'm from Germany
I am working on it… just need to get a degree… 😉
But's not a direct translation. Unless you want him to gloss it, the words won't match up to what he's saying in the slightest.
I have close to a year and im really good at asl
Loved it! Very clear and easy to understand. I used it to study for my project in my ITP class.
Thanks for posting this, Rob!
So how did you do on your ITP project? *smile*
Hi I am taking my quiz tomorrow at 2:30. It is a recording on a dvd.
It is for my last class in an ITP in Catonsville, MD.
thanks again for a wonderful portrayal of the SSB!
I really loved this. It is the best I've seen and I would love to see the full version, un-simplified. I end up interpreting for graduations every year at this time and would really like to step up my performance with this piece.
I do my sign language REALLY different from that!
Hi @Rob Nielson! I'd love to give your videos a 5 star rating but I don't see the option? I did give it a thumb's up & follow you. I love seeing quality videos of Deaf teaching ASL on youtube! :]BTW, I'm pretty sure I saw you at TSD HC. I was chatting with some friends & think I saw you walk by. I was considering going over to meet you &then when I looked up you were gone. I'm pretty sure you're a ninja because I don't know how you moved so quickly. :p (Assuming it was you.)
Thank you , thank you for putting directionality into your signing. Keep up the great work!
THIS SHIT IS SO CRINGE BUT I HAVE TO WATCH IT FOR MY STUPID CLASS
Thank-you. I feel your version is very easy for deaf children to understand.
Where, you born deaf ?
