SignWriting Symposium 2014 Day 1 ASL Trailer


Hello, we are excited that next week on July 21, we will see 10 presentations live right here at this spot. And it is free for everyone to view it right here. We will be starting with a welcome message at 8 PM PDT or at 3 PM UTC. At 8:30, we will see a presentation from 2 Italian researchers who will explain what happened with SignWriting during their SWORD project. At 9:15, we will see a presentation from a German teacher for the Deaf who will explain his writing of mouth movements along side SignWriting used for teaching in his class. At 10, we will see a presentation from an American Deaf SignWriter who will explain different ways of writing by hand. At 10:45, we will see another presentation from 2 Italian researchers who will explain about a program called SWift. At 11:30, we will see a presentation from a Brazilian researcher who will explain what happens in the brain of the deaf person reading SignWriting with an MRI At 12:15, we will see a presentation from a Paraguayan pastor who will explain literacy in a trilingual context using SignWriting. At 1, we will see a presentation from an American SignWriter who will explain how she translated the entire New Testament into SignWriting. At 1:45, we will see a presentation again from the American SignWriter who will explain how she wrote 48 articles for the ASL Wikipedia. At 2:30, we will see a presentation from an American teacher of sign language who will explain how she teaches ASL with SignWriting. At 3:15, we will see a presentation from an American SignWriter who will explain how he ordered signs for a LIBRAS-ASL dictionary. That will then conclude Day 1 at 4 PM PDT, or 11 PM UTC.
