Hello everyone. Welcome to Sign1News live. I’m Candace Jones. Here are your top stories for today. There have been a wave of violent robberies
taking place in the Minneapolis area. One of those robberies was caught on camera. We want to warn you: the video you’re about
to see is graphic and some viewers may find it disturbing. In the video, the suspects can be seen ambushing
the victim, punching, kicking and stomping on him. One person yanked off the victim’s shoes and
clothing while others continued beating him. Police say the group targeted people who were
intoxicated, walking alone and distracted by their cell phones. Take a look. Again we want to warn you the video is disturbing. Police have arrested sixteen suspects in connection
to multiple robberies that have occurred within blocks of each other over a four week period. Authorities say robbery is up 53.8 percent
in downtown Minneapolis from last year. The Police Department admits it needs more
officers and the resources they have are strained to capacity. According to the police department, between
July 1, 2018 and June 30 of this year, there were 6,776 calls to 911 for “priority one”
calls, which includes robbery, homicide or rape, and there wasn’t an officer available
to immediately respond. On Sunday authorities in Brantley County in
southeast Georgia responded to the scene of a van crash. When they arrived, deputies smelled a foul odor
coming from the vehicle. That’s when the driver, thirty-eight-year-old
Michael Wayne Jones, Jr, told deputies “You may want to put me in handcuffs” and indicated
there was a body inside. Deputies found the body of Jones’s wife, thirty-two-year-old Casei Jones. He later led authorities to Charlton County
where they found the bodies of Jones’s four children, who ranged in age from 1 to 10. Jones, who is from Florida, allegedly killed
his wife and their four children then stored their bodies at his home and in his van for
several weeks before transporting their bodies to Georgia. Authorities have not revealed how the family
was killed. Jones has been charged with second-degree murder but more charges may come as the investigation continues. General Mills is pulling pounds of its all-purpose
flour off of the shelves due to E. coli concerns. This is the package the company says consumers
need to check. General Mills announced it was voluntarily
recalling 5 pound bags of its Gold Medal unbleached all-purpose flour. The recall only focuses on the flour with
a “used by date” of September 6, 2020. According to General Mills, that flour could
potentially contain E. coli. The bacteria was discovered during sampling
of the product. There have not been any reports of confirmed illnesses
connected to this recall. Still General Mills says anyone with this
flour should trash it. The United Auto Workers union began their
strike this week. Roughly 50,000 full and part-time workers
walked out of dozens of General Motors factories in nine states. This is the biggest strike by any union against
any business since 2007, which was also against GM. The automaker says most of its hourly workers
make about $90,000 per year plus benefits. But the union says it wants higher wages and
a larger profit-sharing plan. The 2007 strike went on for three days but
others went on for months. President Trump says he hopes union negotiators
can work things out quickly. The union says saving jobs is key to the negotiations. Any deal between the union and GM will set
the tone for upcoming contract conversations with Ford and Fiat Chrysler. If you have been waiting anxiously for Google’s
Pixel 4 smart phone, prepare to get excited. The tech giant’s newest phone is on its way. It’s likely to be unveiled at an October 15
“Made by Google” event. The Pixel 4 has been the subject
of so many leaks that in June, Google had to go ahead and confirm what it would look
like. The company’s images showed a phone with a
large, square camera bump on the back and no fingerprint reader. It will have features including motion sensing
technology and the ability to unlock the phone with the user’s face. The Pixel 4 is also rumored to have a second
camera: a telephoto lens capable of zooming in on subjects. It’s expected to come in black, white and
coral. Anyone who knows me knows I love to travel. I have been to some of the most exotic and
beautiful destinations on earth. But do I want to take a vacation in space? Would you? Take a look. The Gateway Foundation released the design
for its space hotel this week. It looks like a rotating wheel and includes
twenty-four modules that orbit the earth. The wheel’s rotation could create a simulated
gravity. The hotel design is named for Wernher von
Braun. He was an aerospace engineer who pioneered
rocket technology in Germany and the United States. However the name could become controversial
because von Braun also worked with the Nazi party. The Foundation hopes to get the hotel off
the ground by 2025. That could make it fully operational by 2027. And those are your top stories for today. I’m Candace Jones. Thank you for watching Sign1News. Remember to follow us on all of our social
