  • My daughter Jacinda watched and was delighted that she understood everything and could pick it up, You are a great teacher!

  • There's no "stand alone" book I would recommend. Learning ASL from books is not a good idea due to the challenges presented in learning a three-dimensional language from two-dimensional pictures (case in point, look at Melissa Schenk's videos on YouTube. She looks up signs from a book and made videos from it). The textbook that I use is intended to be use in a classroom setting under the guidance of the instructor, so is not a good choice for self-learning. That's one reason I created my website

  • LOL. Yep. Now you're seeing why I have my website and these ASL Snippets. Although not quite as good as actual face-to-face interaction, they are better than static pictures in a book. 🙂

  • Firstly, great videos! I've only watched a few so far, but I feel like I'm understanding without the use of subtitles or speech. I'm not quite sure why I'm learning ASL being British, but I enjoy it anyway!

I have a question however. I find myself mirroring your actions, you sign "man" with your left hand, but I'm using my right. Is there choice? Should I be using my left hand? Are you mirroring intentionally?

    Thanks!

  • I don't quite see how this teaches anyone sign Language, when there is no caption or speech for what he is saying, unless you already know what he is saying but then that just defeats the purpose of teaching.

  • I'm a trans-woman so I've been wondering how I would sign that properly in ASL without finger-spelling.
