Sign Language Lessons: Alphabet & Numbers : How to Sign Numbers 4,5, & 6 in Sign Language

Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf
of Expert Village, today we’re going to be learning about sign language. In the up coming
clips, we’re going to learn how to sign the alphabet and the numbers 1-10. As we progress
through our numbers now, let’s learn 4, 5, and 6. As you see here, for the number 4,
as I’m sure you can guess 4 fingers will be shown. 4 for the number 4. 5 is also very
similar. Of course, 5 fingers are going to be held up. We go from 4 to 5. 4 to 5. As
we move into 6, 6, 7, 8, and 9 is where it gets a little bit trickier. As we review,
let’s go 1 through 5 once again. Do you remember all of them? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 6 then what you
want to do is as it says here, the thumb will touch your little finger like this. This is
what it looks like if you were to watch it. If you were to see me sign it, but from my
perspective what you’re doing is touching your thumb and your pinky basically together
like this. So this 6. Go from 5 to 6. 5 to 6. In the next clip, we’ll learn 7, 8, 9, and

  • @dudemansam4189 I have actually always done letters with my palm inward and letters with it outward because, to me, it makes more sense since 6,7,8,&9 look like u r counting on your fingers and I make them touch more

  • You would NEVER hold the six hand backwards like that!! You are supposed to orient the hand so the person you are signing to can see what you are doing! Please stop teaching this language as if you know it. If anyone is depending on this woman to learn ASL, please be careful!! Go find a Deafie to teach you!! If I wanted to learn to speak Spanish, I'd get someone who actually spoke the language to teach me. Consider that please!

  • Yes, this is not correct. Melissa Schenk has no clue what she is doing. I would recommend my YouTube channel for accurate videos showing correct sign language.

  • This woman is not certified to teach sign language. That being said, she is teaching incorrectly and please do not view her videos. She is only doing this for profit. If you want to learn sign language, there are many ways to do so. But learning through her is not.
