Me first: children and young people centred communication
October 14, 2019
Hello my name is Jo. When it comes to conversations about my health and how I’m feeling I often don’t feel like
anyone puts me first. I need to feel listened to and understand what’s
happening so I can be involved in decisions to help me feel better. That’s why I’ve worked with Me first together with other children and young people to help design a communication training programme for health and social care professionals. The Me first communication model we’ve come up with is unique but can be used widely across different ages and abilities, whatever your job. Talking with people like me at our level will help you tackle tough conversations make us feel more supported, and help our health and well-being. Want to help children and young people first? We’ve got tons of
training resources and support to develop your skills and confidence in
communicating with young people.
