Get the most out of gesture control – BMW How-To

BMW vehicles equipped with gesture control enable some functions to be operated simply by moving your hands. A camera in the roof lining detects gestures made under the rear-view mirror in front of the Control Display. When you for example move your hand in a circle with only your index finger pointed forward, you can change the volume. Turn clockwise to increase the volume, anti-clockwise to reduce the volume. Move your index and middle fingers apart and extend them forwards. This gesture can be individually assigned to a function. To find the gesture control menu, use BMW’s Intelligent Personal Assistant, … … or go to ‘CAR’, ‘Settings’, ‘General settings’, ‘Gesture control’. Here you can select if you would like to activate or deactivate gesture control. You can also select ‘Display user help’ if your want the possible gesture to be displayed on the Control Display, … … or select ‘Audio confirmation’ to get an audible signal when the gesture is recognized. Some gestures can be individually assigned. Please select the desired setting for ‘Function assignment gesture 1’ or ‘2’. Visit the interactive owner’s manual to view all available gestures.
