Deepa Malik Conferred Khel Ratna Award

On 28 August, at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind conferred Deepa Malik with an award for her brialliant She was conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. She was awarded a medal as well as a certificate. She has become the first and the oldest Indian woman para-athlete to win the award. The award was given to Deepa Malik for her brilliant performance in 2016 and 2018. She is a brilliant sportsperson. In the 2016 Rio Paralympics in Brazil, Deepa won a silver medal. In the 2018 Asian Para Games, she won the bronze medal in javelin throw. Deepa has said that she has worked very hard to achieve her goals in sports. She said that people with disabilities have a lot of skill and talent. They can do anything they decide. She said that people with disabilities want to show this to world and change their negativity into positivity. Deepa said that, this award will become a huge inspiration for disabled women athletes. Deepa was also awarded the Padma Shri award in 2017 and the Arjuna Award for Athletics in 2012.
