American Sign Language

Learn to communicate using American Sign Language in TCC’s two-year associate degree in American Sign Lang- uage-English Interpretation and a 2-semester career studies certificate in ASL. Classes are offered exclusively on our Chesapeake Campus. You must be able to attend classes in-person during the day to complete these programs. As a degree graduate, you will be qualified to sit for one or more exams administered by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment Diagnostic Center. for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment Diagnostic Center. Graduates are prepared for immediate employment as interpreters within K-12 schools in the community or for government or private agencies. Or you can pursue work in social work, audiology labs or educational settings. Good candidates enjoy foreign languages and would like to work within the Deaf community.
