3b. Beginner ASL Lesson Three Part II: Sentences

Hi Everyone, Laura Berg here. Now, this is part two of lesson three if you haven’t done part one, make sure you go back and do that because that will teach you the vocabulary words that you need for this lesson. This lesson will teach you sentences using those words. Alright guys, let’s begin. Do you see that tall person over there? No, which one? The man with the brown hair and glasses wearing a green shirt. I like his brown shoes. Do you see that woman over there with red hair a purple dress and purse? I think she’s my sister’s friend. What does your sister look like? She’s short, thin, has black hair, a big nose and freckles. In ASL when you explain what people look like you First, who the person is. Woman, man, friend, mother, father etc. Second, height. Third, describe body size. Fourth, describe facial features. 1st – who, 2nd – height, 3rd – size, 4th – face. She’s short, thin that’s right, yes, that’s the correct order. Good. Can I explain to them? Go ahead, explain. So, he’s saying ASL what you’re going to sign is you have to identify the person first. And then the height. And then (what they’re wearing?) oh, body size. And then, face. It’s usually the order you describe people in. See that boy with a green top and black pants? My brother is fat, is blonde and has blue eyes. My mom is short and thin with red hair. The policeman has black shoes and a grey belt. My doctor is tall and thin and his nurse is short and fat. Alright, it’s review time. So now, I’m going to put the sentences up on the screen and what I want you to do is see if you remember how to sign them before Regent shows you them again. Okay, let’s begin. Do you see that tall person over there? No, which one? The man with the brown hair and glasses wearing a green shirt. I like his brown shoes. Do you see that woman over there with the red hair a purple dress and purse? I think she’s my sister’s friend. What does your sister look like? She’s short, then, has black hair, big nose and freckles. See that boy with a green top and black pants? My brother is fat, blonde and has blue eyes. My mom is short and thin with red hair. The policeman has black shoes and a grey (gray) belt. My doctor is tall and thin and his nurses short and fat. Alright guys, well, I hope you enjoyed that lesson. Now, if you’re ready and confident to move on to the quiz, please do so. If you’re not quite ready, you can go back and review the lessons as many times as you’d like. Before moving on to part three and taking that quiz. Alright guys, have a great day. Bye!
